The following methods of copywriting or advertising training have differences in terms of focus and teaching strategies. Determine first the specific areas in advertising that you would want to specialize in. It may be TV advertising, brochure advertising writing or web content writing. Training on some of these may take a shorter time or it may need in-depth studies that require a longer time to finish. This is one thing and then your own innate writing skills can help you choose.

English Degrees This is for people who have the inclination or the desire to study the English language and have the intention to work in an English-related business or industry. In the past, few people were really interested because they were thinking that there are only a few job opportunities in this field.

But globalization came in gradually and dominated the way we do things in business. The English language has become the primary medium of communication among countries and business leaders. Then the internet came. This widely-used communication medium has proven further that English is a very important language to learn and use.

As a result, job opportunities related to English have multiplied exponentially. Take journalism, marketing, media studies or communications because many job opportunities are waiting for you. Obtain copywriting internship. You can do this if time allows you and there s money in the bank to support your day to day living while training. While there, get to study and critique actual advertisements that you can see on TV, hear from the radio or read from the internet. Talk to people in the office that matter. Make sure you are dealing with the right people who can help you not only in your copywriting training, but also when you begin your career in the future.

Foods To Avoid On The Slow Carb Diet

By | March 11, 2013

Foods To Avoid On The Slow Carb Diet

by

Dr. Dennis Clark

Worst Foods on the Slow Carb Diet

The concept of this diet is to reduce blood sugar spikes by eating foods that are not absorbed quickly through the digestive tract. Timothy Ferriss has popularized this diet in his book, The 4-Hour Body’. It has attracted a lot of attention because it is such an easy diet to follow and because it provides very exciting weight loss results within the first 30 days.

Indeed, the most common results show a typical loss of 20 pounds in the first month if you follow these five rules for 30 days, according to Tim:

1) Avoid white’ carbohydrates

2) Eat the same few meals over and over again

3) Don’t drink calories

4) Don’t eat fruit

5) Take one day off per week

Notice that 3 out of the 5 rules entail what NOT to do.

Rule 1, Avoid white’ foods, is the simplest one to understand. It almost goes without saying that breads, pastas, sugary foods, potatoes, and other white’ foods provide a huge carbohydrate hit. In fact, these foods are the ones that are best known to the public for spiking blood sugar.

What some folks argue about is the inclusion or exclusion of whole grains. All grains are sources of fast carbs – i.e., those that spike blood sugar. All grains should therefore be avoided on the slow carb diet, especially during the initial 30-day incentive phase. I call it the incentive phase’ because, when you do it right, your weight loss results are great incentive for continuing the diet.

YouTube Preview Image

Rule 3, Don’t drink calories, is perhaps a bit redundant. However, it is crucial to follow this rule. Sodas, sweetened beverages, fruit juices, sports drinks, energy drinks, and many other kinds of beverages are loaded with sugars. It is a toss-up as to whether sodas are worse than fruit juices. They are both to be avoided. Anything with sugar or some other synonym for it (glucose, dextrose, fructose, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, agave syrup) will stop your weight progress completely.

Rule 4, Don’t eat fruit, is a semi-temporary rule. It applies most rigorously to the first 30 days, what I call the incentive phase’. Fruits are loaded with sugar. Sweeter fruits are loaded with even more fructose. Fructose is particularly disastrous for stopping or reversing weight loss.

Fruits can be added back into your diet after you get the slow carb diet going in the initial 30-day phase. However, you still must be careful with them. They simply provide too much sugar! Even the fiber and other nutrition that you can get from whole fruits is insufficient to counteract the fast carb hit that you get from them. You really have to be careful not to overdo your fruit intake on every day of the slow carb diet. Otherwise it wouldn’t be slow carb, would it?

Other Foods to Avoid

This sensible answer came from a comment by 4HourBod’ 4HourPeople.com). It expands on Tim’s rules above, with additional foods that should be avoided on the slow carb diet.

Milk

Milk products including cheese (except cottage cheese)

Refined soy products (soy milk, tofu, tempeh, soy protein shake)

Fruit

Potatoes (sweet potatoes, yams, yucca, any starchy vegetable)

Bread, rice, grains, oatmeal, tortillas, quinoa

Ketchup

Creamy dressings and dressings with sugar

Sugar, honey, corn syrup, maple syrup, fructose

Deep-fried breaded food

Corn, popcorn

Kombucha

The surprise in this list, for many people, is dairy. It turns out that dairy products cause a spike in insulin, which is a negative corollary to blood sugar spikes. Although dairy is not necessarily highly glycemic (except for milk and Lactaid milk, due to milk sugar [lactose] content), it is highly insulinemic.

Foods Allowed in Moderation

Certain foods provide a tolerable carb hit on blood sugar if you consume them in moderation. What moderation’ means is different for different people. It depends on how much of each of the following you can consume without disrupting your weight management progress. It takes individual experimentation to determine what you can get away with’.

Mayonnaise

Peas

Tomatoes

Avocado (1 cup/day max)

Peanut butter/ almond, and other nut butter (1 TB/day)

Nuts (5-10 per meal)

Hummus, chickpeas/garbanzo beans

Coffee (w/up to 2 TB cream)

Unsweetened almond milk

Note that 4HourBod’ also included beverages containing aspartame (Nutrasweet) on this list. However, there is NEVER a good consumable that contains this sweetener. It is a metabolic poison that should always be avoided, regardless of whether you are dieting.

Refrigerator Facts You Should Know About

by

Amit Verma

For many individuals, refrigerators are simply the home appliance that stores food, both left-over and straight from the store, and then keeps them fresh. But not everyone knows that refrigerators may just be what keep a person nourished and healthy. It need not be further stressed out that refrigerators are every home s necessity. People should realize the fact that what seemed to be a simple home appliance before had long evolved into something nobody had imagined it would be. Now, fridges can be linked to other home appliances or even to your mobile phone for easy and quick access or update of what s inside it.

Drop by any home appliance store and try to look at the line of refrigerators that they have. You ll be amazed that refrigerators today are twice as big as before. If all you own at home is a simple, one-door, 6 cubic feet refrigerator, now is the best time to upgrade. Instead of stocking your food inside a small fridge, why not get a much bigger, more technologically powered refrigerator that can undoubtedly keep your favorite food fresh at all times?

YouTube Preview Image

There are about five types of refrigerators available today and these are the French door, side by side, bottom freezer, frost free, and direct cool refrigerators. Each one of these fridges is created in such a way they provide not just convenience to its owner but also elegance and style in one s day-to-day living.

For example, the French door refrigerator is designed to give you the biggest space and the best functions in the kitchen. French door refs are those that have two doors on top that open side by side and two more below that open upfront. The upper doors are for the food that you need the easiest access to everyday. These would be water, beverages, snacks, fruits, and the likes. The lower doors are mainly used for keeping meats and vegetables.

French door refrigerators are like side by side refrigerators in a way. As the name of this type of fridge indicates, side by side refrigerators have two doors that open at the sides. And like the French doors, they also provide a much bigger capacity than a regular fridge.

You can say that a French door refrigerator is a combination of the side by side and the bottom freezer type. The bottom freezer only has one door above the freezer, which is unlike the French door fridge that has two. But just like the latter, the freezer is conveniently placed on the lower part of the fridge so it would be easier for anyone to get to the most accessed food items, for they are stored at an eye level.

British driver admits driving at 172 mph

By | March 9, 2013

Friday, August 24, 2007

Timothy Brady has admitted to a charge of driving at 172 mph (276.8 kmph) on a British A road. The 33-year-old was caught driving his Porsche 911 on the A420 during a routine speed check by Thames Valley Police near Oxford. Mr Brady admitted the charge at the hearing taking place at Oxford Crown Court.

Mr Brady was clocked by police on a bridge and was later arrested four miles down the road after police used a car to block the road.

The speed is thought to be the highest ever recorded on a British road and is 100 mph over the legal limit of 70 mph. Campaigners from Brake, a road safety charity, told the BBC that the offence was “shocking”.

He is likely to receive a jail term and be disqualified from driving. The previous record was set by Jason McAllister, a car dealer from Aberdeen who was clocked doing 156.7 mph in his BMW M3.

Google removes German BMW from search results

By |

Monday, February 6, 2006

The search engine Google announced the removal of the official German BMW web site from its search results today. Google is reported to have removed the website due to the use of a trick to raise its website ratings in the search engine’s results.

The online version of Forbes magazine reported that the German word for used car, Gebrauchtwagen, appeared 42 times in a doorway web page created by the German car manufacturer. Doorway web pages contain many keywords designed to attract search robots. The page presented to Google’s robot for indexing was significantly different from the page presented to the site’s visitors.

According to a recent blog post by Matt Cutts, one of Google’s software engineers, this technique is “a violation of our webmaster quality guidelines.” These guidelines encourage webmasters to “avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings.”

BMW reacted to the measure by claiming that it had no intention of manipulating the search results, but instead used the doorway pages with the objective of “offering a better service” to those looking for used cars.

Honda Civic tops Canada’s list of most stolen cars

By |

Wednesday, November 22, 2006

The 1999 and 2000 year model Honda Civic SiR tops the list of Canada’s most stolen cars.

Consumer popularity also assures the cars will be popular with thieves. Its the second year in a row the Honda SiR has topped the list.

Rick Dubin Vice President of Investigations for the Insurance Bureau of Canada said “The Civics are easy targets.”

Dubin said that once stolen, the cars are most often sold to “chop shops” where thieves completely dismantle the vehicles. The automobile’s individual parts are worth more than the entire car.

The sheer numbers of the cars and their lack of theft deterrent systems make them thieves’ preferred choices.

1999 and 2000 Honda Civics do not come with an electronic immobilizer, however all Hondas from 2001 and onward are equipped with an immobilizer. Immobilizers will be mandatory on all new cars sold beginning September 2007. The devices enable an engine computer to recognize an electronic code in the key. If the code in the key and the engine don’t match exactly, the vehicle can’t be started.

In third place was the 2004 Subaru Impreza, while the 1999 Acura Integra came in fourth, with the 1994 Honda Civic rounding out the top five.

In sixth place, the 1998 Acura Integra, and the 1993 Dodge Shadow completed seventh.

When asked why early model vehicles are selected, he said that, “auto thieves continue to find it easier to steal older vehicles lacking an IBC-approved immobilizer. We’ve seen this trend developing for several years, and these results confirm it.”

Another Honda automobile, the 1996 year model Civic filled eighth place, with the 2000 German Audi TT Quattro in ninth.

The American 1996 Chevrolet/GMC Blazer rounded out the top ten.

None of the above cars had an electronic immobilizer.
